SCREEN-PRINTING THOUGHTS
--------------------------------------------------------------
I enjoyed the project overall though I do wish my partner worked with me more, as we had many different thoughts on the design of course but I did try hard to get to a final point, but was met a lot with shrugs or sure. I do know I took a lot of lead , but I felt like I needed to which I didn't like in the course I felt like I left them out but they never accepted on helping much when I did offer or listen.
I did like design somewhat as I couldn't go as out of the box with this as my partner wanted simple I didn't, but I had fun with the learning process of it all and the bumps in the road which was the screen blowing out too much . Though I regret printing on my flannel as I had a different plan for my back it is what it is, and it came out decent too.

Process of the Printing
--------------------------------------------------------------
My first step was to go out of the box with my partner, but after awhile of going back and fourth with what the design should be we settled on an image from the ring. This is still the process of trying to figure out what the design should be, how should it should work and look in some way, and what can be done instead.

Making the design
--------------------------------------------------------------
(Reference Used)
We both settled on this image though throughout the sketches and ideas we both wanted the well that she comes out of as its somehat iconic, I still wanted to go out there with the design so I simplified the image, added the well and the Tv. As the design would've been nice with just the well I wanted to also add the TV as that's what also is known about the ring is that she climbs out of the TV.
Transparency Sheet
--------------------------------------------------------------
The next step would to print on a transparency sheet so that the image can burn onto the screen it fit the page nicely and no misshapes with this step.
There were two sheets to this which had to be lined up together, so we cut two small triangles on the the top sheet so it can be taped together after lining them up correclty.

Burning the screen
--------------------------------------------------------------
Before we burned we had a screen that go chroma blue on it which was in the dark room to not expose it to light, because if had then the screen would be ruined as the Chroma blue would harden. So the screen was coated in chroma blue so when we would burn the image and blow it would we would the image on there and no other parts blowing out.
To my fault I didn't take a picture of the screen after we had burned it, but we burned the image onto the screen. This was done in the dark room on the table , so we would set the image on the screen face wrong reeding then flip it over where the tape on our screen for our names would be seen. It would be suctioned and compressed, then would be exposed to the light for 50 seconds. which afterwards you take it to the sink run it under warm water wait form a minute then blow it would.
but since it was the near the end of class I thought It was alright to blow it out the next day. Fun fact don't do that as the screen won't blow out correctly and the emulsion will harden too much, we had the screen re coated after a day waited another day then burned again. Which the screen worked fine this time, but only conceding thing was the blue emulsion was coming off like strips but it wad fine enough to print with.

I learned with this step to not wait that long after burning the screen and not even blowing it out, it was a my bad on my part.

Screen Printing
--------------------------------------------------------------
The first step in the screen printing process after burning and blowing out, was then taking the screen and putting it in the clamps to hold it in place. But then taking a shirt spraying down adhesive to keep it in place and making sure there's no wrinkles putting the positive and tapping where I want it on the t-shirt, then lining up the screen adjusting the board where the t-shirt is on to the transparency or the image and design. After getting it checked it was complete for that step, then we had to get set up.
This would be putting down some newspaper to get all the supplies we need, such as the ink tub, squeegee , paint knife, and making sure everything lined up still.
Then we went for printing, getting a glob of ink on the knife and putting it on the screen, then with both hands bringing down the screen while dirty hands grabs the squeegee and at a angle would go over it lightly the first time and then go harder that t would almost scoop up all the ink at the end. We then dried it underneath the heat table as the drying machine that was there would dry the white corrreclty on one the shirts.
